Anne Moorse is a Kenya-born artist who lives in Sherborne, Dorset. After taking a degree in Latin and French at University College London she married and went to Aden which is now in Southern Yemen. She began painting there as Anne Doe in the fifties, moving back to the UK with her two children in 1967. Before taking up painting full time in 1981 Anne Moorse taught Latin and French at St Anthony’s School for girls at Leweston, Dorset.
She is widely known for her distinctive watercolours, taking her inspiration from people and places in everyday life She has exhibited successfully overseas in Aden, Spain, Hong Kong and Oman. In the UK she has had solo exhibitions at the crypt of St John’s Smith Square in London and at the Alpha Gallery in Sherborne. Her paintings have also been shown at the Royal Institute of Watercolour Artists at the Mall Galleries in London and at the Royal West Of England Academy in Bristol. She served as Chairman of the Sherborne Art Club for five years.
